Tuesday morning .... a good night

Amanda seemed to rest well last night, and appears to be recovering relatively quickly, especially in relation to the last lung surgery (which was also a double lung surgery).

In another hour or so, Denise will arrive and I will head to the airport to fly back to Columbia for a few days, and will then drive back to Houston on Friday, bringing a couple of Amanda's siblings and a couple of her cousins. Our thinking is that Amanda will likely be released from the hospital around Friday or so, but tentatively we have a follow up appointment with the doctor on Wednesday of next week, after which we can all drive back to Columbia. (Once Amanda is out of the hospital, we also have appointments with the prosthetic people to get her leg refitted better, so she can use it more.)

And now, in the words of Amanda last night as she fell asleep ... I was standing by her bed, and she turned to me and said, "Don't worry, it will be ok." .... From my vantage point, it isn't ok at all, but for lack of knowing anything more to do, I'll just go with Amanda on this one for a while .... especially since she smiled at me when she said it.

Trust your daughter on this one...God gives her a special peace and strength that only Him and her understand at this point.

That is just like Amanda. Always thinking of others. She is certainly filled with His peace - enough for her and all those she passes it on to. Love her so much. Senior year - Class of 2010 - what a leader she will be!
