It is Tuesday evening and I have just returned home from spending my day with Amanda at the hospital.
To catch you up....after learning the news that her tumor had not responded to the chemo treatments, Larry and I spoke with her Doctors (both here and in Kansas City). Their plan was to bring Amanda back into the hospital for more rounds of chemo infusions. Because they used the newest and the strongest the first time around, their choice was to repeat it again. They changed one drug in her "chemo combo" hoping that this new change and a repeat attack would this time destroy the tumor that is in our daughter. It is vital that they find a way to destroy it because, based on it's location and current size, it is considered inoperable as it is now.
Her new round of chemo treatments began again today. Because of the drug change, Amanda will need to remain in the hospital through Sunday evening. As before she will then be given about two weeks for her system to regain her strength and then we will return for the Tuesday treatments that require her to clear the drug from her body. She will receive two of those, two weeks in a row.
Amanda remains pain free, she was able to cheer again at last night's game, and she still has the most incredible spirit.
Our hearts ache but we cling to the hope that comes with our faith in a loving Heavenly Father,
Amanda's mom

Amanda,
You sure inherited Cathy's strength and spirit. I just know she would be so proud of you,her daughter...if she could only be here with you/us now. Take care.
We love you
Steve, Nancy & Ethan
Hello Nancy;
You are so right, that Cathy would be proud of Amanda. Denise and I are very thankful for the strength and character attributes passed on to our children by both mommy Cathy and daddy Ryan. Their legacy is a precious treasure to us all and we remember them often and fondly.
And now, due to circumstances beyond our control and contrary to what any of us would have desired, many loved ones have gone ahead of us to be with the Lord. With all the grace that is then left within us, we strive to finish well and honorably. Having said that, just as I am certain mommy Cathy would be proud of Amanda, I am likewise more than certain that mommy Cathy would also be very proud and most thankful for the incredible love, laughter and joy that has been brought to all our children by mommy Denise. And Denise and I look forward to the day when, in heaven's glory, we shall all meet face to face ... all things on earth shall be passed away (including cancer), and the four of us, at last and forever, can be best friends.
