It is Tuesday and again I wanted to catch you all up on Amanda's week.
Last Tuesday found us fighting the snow and ice to get in for her lab work. Thankfully, those lab results were very good. The fun part for us was that it was also the first "no school because of the snow" day here. For those of you not living in mid-Missouri, this is a very rare treat for our students! Amanda and I got a couple of days home together with her brothers and sisters for play time, and...we all loved it!
We spent days sleeping in, playing games, playing in the snow and enjoying our last days with Joshua (who came over to hang out) & Haley before they both returned to start their spring semesters at college. These days were double fun for Amanda because she got a break from the hospital and her days were filled with laughter, fun and family...great medicine for all of us.
Again today Amanda had her lab levels drawn, and again no transfusion was necessary. They had prepared us for a low white count because of the new drug that they implemented with the last infusion, and as they warned, her count was low. This puts her at a higher risk for infection but her count was high enough that she did not have to be "banned" from activities such as school. We were all very happy about that.
Next Tuesday Amanda will check for lab work and then, if her counts are all back within the acceptable levels, she will be admitted for her MX treatment. (That is the one where we stay until she clears the chemo count to less than .1.)
But until then...we are looking forward to more days of love, laughter, music and lots of snow?!...ice?!...sun?!...school?!...it doesn't matter. What matters? Just that we are together as a family. :-)
