Again this Tuesday Amanda and I (slowly) headed down to University Hospital. Last night's snow fall made the trip a little "wiggly", but we managed to get to the hospital safe and sound.
The day started with lab work. Once again I am thankful to say that Amanda's lab results were very good..."excellent" is actually the word that the Dr. used. We are so very thankful.
This will be a long week for Amanda. The infusion that she is receiving is administered for a short time each day but for five days in a row. The drug combination that she is receiving is very hard on her body's hydration level and so following the 5th infusion (which will be on Saturday afternoon), we will remain in the hospital for another 24 hours while they monitor her hydration levels. Assuming they have reached a safe level by then, she will be released to come back home on Sunday afternoon for a two week break. (We can't wait!!!!) :-)
I know that this infusion schedule can be a little confusing, so please let me take a moment and clarify what it will look like in the weeks to come.
Today's admission is actually the first infusion in the second series. A series contains one 5 day infusion admission, two weeks where she receives no chemo - only checks in for weekly lab work, and then two weeks of Mx treatments (those are the ones where we wait until her count is .09 or below). A total of 5 weeks. This is week one. Following the completion of this series, Amanda will have all of her tests and scans done again.
I will already beg of you to please keep this last series and the upcoming scans in your prayers. Following our first set of series we had to learn the news that the chemo had not had any effect on Amanda's tumor. And so we began again. But it is vital that we find the chemo combination that will destroy Amanda's tumor.
We cling to our faith in the Great Physician who loves Amanda and created her. Her healing needs His touch. I thank each of you who continue to stand with us praying on her behalf. It means more to us than I can say.

So five more weeks and they'll do her scans again? We will definitely be praying that there will be much more encouraging results with the next scan...hang in there, Amanda and family - we love you!

You are all in my prayers! I pray that her numbers will go down quickly so that she can arrive home on Sunday afternoon to spend with her family. You are all very strong and keep your head up and your faith strong. God is going to get you through this!
Love & prayers,
Chas
Another prayer warrior signed in and reporting for duty! Hang in there.
