5.22 - One of the best numbers in the world!

Yes, that is right. 5.22.....what a beautiful number!

Our first count has come back tonight, 24 hours after Amanda finished receiving her chemo treatment and it is 5.22! Why is that so special? Well, for a couple of reasons.

First, after receiving her chemo treatment yesterday a count was taken to see how much of the chemo was in her system. The number came back very high, 1,452.06. We knew that we would need to wait 24 hours before a new reading was taken and that would then be an indicator to us as to how Amanda's system was doing removing this chemical from her body. Well...I am very happy to report that her system is doing awesome! Tonight's reading was only 5.22. We were all so excited and relieved the tears just flowed from Amanda, Larry, myself, Grandma Audrey, Anna and even our nurse. Her Dr. had told me today that they were hoping Amanda would get down to the 100 - 200 range. This far surpassed that.

Second, 5.22 is waaaaaay closer to that special .1 that we are waiting for. When it gets to .1 they will let Amanda come home to rest and wait until her next infusion (which is scheduled for next Tuesday). We really want her home. Amanda really wants to be home with her brothers and sisters. As thrilled as we are for that 5.22 number....we are all praying and waiting for .1.

Thank you, thank you to each of you who has prayed for Amanda and our family. I truly believe your prayers make a difference.

Tonight, as I pray for each of my children and give thanks for each of you....I am going to also thank God for the number 5.22. ( And, I will probably add the number .1 in there right before my "amen". !)

You know Amanda, that number was so low primarily to all that "flushing" we keep talking about! :) Keep those fluids flowing!!

Love to all the McDaniels as we all celebrate this wonderful news!!
