The time has come to return to Houston.
Larry and Amanda left early this morning for the long drive to Houston. I am staying in Columbia for a few more days because of some commitments that the other children have, and then I will fly down to join Larry and Amanda in Houston. A special treat along the way was a surprise stop in Arkansas to visit Matt and Haley and to add her bags to the car. Haley is joining Larry and Amanda for the trip down and will stay through the weekend, returning back home on Monday. Amanda is really excited to have some time with her sister.
I have spoken with them a couple of times and so far, everything is going great.
Tomorrow morning they will be attending an event in honor of the Limbs of Love organization. This group made a generous contribution towards the cost of Amanda's prosthesis and they will "present" the donation to Amanda during this event. Newspapers, radio commentators as well as some television stations are sending representatives to interview Amanda and others who are recipients of gifts from this wonderful organization. We are thankful the timing worked for us to have Amanda there so that we could say "thank you" in person.
Pre-surgical scans begin on Monday morning. As always we will keep you updated and covet your prayers on behalf of Amanda.
