Finally tube-free

They just removed the drainage tube for the right lung. This is the last tube of any kind ... yesterday the drainage tube for the left lung and other tubes and connections that do other things were removed. Another lung x-ray will be taken at about 1:00 today, and the results of this x-ray will have some bearing on our release date from the hospital. If everything looks good on the x-ray, we could actually get released from the hospital later today.

Regarding the lesions removed during surgery ....
As we said in an earlier post, there were 19 lesions removed from Amanda's right lung, and 24 removed from her left lung. The pathology report showed that the lesions had responded to chemo to a great extent. Basically that means they were mostly dead, but not completely so. Therefore, knowing the lesions are responding to chemo, more chemo will be given to continue trying to eliminate any cancer cells that might possibly still be there, but were too small to detect.

At this point, we are estimating being able to return home by the middle of next week.
