First Day in Houston

We had a good day here. We met Dr. Anderson this morning and were very pleased with our time together. Dr. Anderson speaks very positively about the outcome of the procedures he intends to recommend. We should know more about those on Wednesday or Thursday morning. We had thought we would fly back home on Thursday morning, but it may be a little later in the day now. Regardless, either by Wednesday or Thursday morning, we will have a schedule of treatment for the next 5 or 6 weeks.

One other thing that we have mentioned a little bit recently, but now know more about is that ... in the beginning we had been told that the tumor would HAVE to be surgically removed, requiring a really ugly and devastating operation. As it turns out, Dr. Anderson considers most of the tumor to already be dead at this point, and has no plans to do any kind of an extensive and very invasive surgery to remove it. Dr. Anderson assures us that it is the nature of tumors of this type to die, but not shrink; and as long as it's dead, it isn't bothering anything.

To Jessica's mom .... this morning she fixed Honey Nut Cheerios. :-)

This is the best news. What an answer to prayer. I am assuming that the schedule of treatments for the next 5 or 6 weeks is chemo. You must be so happy.
We love you all.

(BTW - maybe no time this time, but my sis-in-law in Houston says not to forget while you're in Houston sometime, that Galveston is not too far away...the HUGE Galleria Mall is very near the hospital...a place called Kemah (Key-Ma), little shops, lots of restaurants-on the water...Space Center Houston...and my personal favorite...IKEA!!! ;-)

Larry this is Mike. Sounds like great news. I agree with the other good folks that have posted - this is encouraging.

This has been an emotional roller coaster. You have some very real friends who are following this closely and praying for Amanda's full recovery.
