Back from Ski Trip and Scans at M.D. Anderson

We got back home late last night. Caleb and Amanda had been gone for over 1 1/2 weeks on the ski trip sponsored by the hospital, and were very ready to be home again, even though the ski trip was an incredible experience for them.

Click for Full Size ImageHere is a picture of Amanda first learning how to ski, using outriggers to maintain balance and control. Once she got the hang of it, she was hopping on the ski lifts and heading to higher ground.

Also at the resort was a rock wall that Caleb and Amanda enjoyed climbing. These things are tough enough with two good arms and legs, let alone missing a leg! But, as you would imagine, Click for Full Size ImageAmanda was scaling it anyway. :-)

It was also a lot of fun for Caleb to conquer. Click for Full Size ImageIn this image, he is managing to come across a ceiling area (yes, like Spiderman) before continuing on up to the top of the wall.

Also, at some point there was a dance, where apparently Click for Full Size ImageCaleb and Amanda got in on the Karaoke, and Amanda even gave them Click for Full Size Imagesome dancing lessons ... and yes, how to do the Worm. :-)

Finally .... the results of the scans showed stability in the lung spots, and a lung surgery will take place mid-February with the goal of removing as many as possible. This surgery will be followed by additional chemo.

We have been waiting for news from Houston. It is such a joy to see Amanda and Caleb having such a good time in Utah. We are so proud of them, as well as all our grandchildren.
Our prayers go out to you for the upcoming surgery.

It's so wonderful to see them having FUN! I don't know how Amanda does what she does! She is amazing! I will be praying that the mid-February surgery will go well! As always, a great bright spot in my life to share your family with you!

We Shumards LOVE the McDaniels!
