It is Wednesday morning and we are two days into our time here at Univ. Hospital. And although no one wants to stay in the hospital, being here feels very familiar and welcoming. The nurses and staff are all so happy to get a chance to care for Amanda again and to catch up on all her progress. They are incredible. Our family has again settled into our "hospital" routine with me doing the days, Larry coming in the evening for the night shift and siblings into visit. We had a great evening visit with Caleb and Joshua here last night. It is a gift to my heart to see the way all of Amanda's siblings assist her, care for her and love her both here and in our home. They are a very special group of brothers & sisters.
Amanda is receiving a heavy dose of chemo and her infusions run continually for the three days that we are down here. So far she has felt very well, with the only complaint being a little nausea due to the large amounts of fluid settling in her stomach and running through her system. Thankfully it has not been enough to eliminate her appetite and she is currently working on a Belgin waffle as I type this.
Assuming that no unforseen complications arise, Amanda will complete her treatment around lunch time tomorrow and should be released shortly thereafter.
The waffle is gone and we are heading down to the gift shop. It's customer appreciation day and who knows what treasures we will find. :-)
Our prayer as always... Father during this time of chemo please protect Amanda and may the chemo only effect any cancerous cells in her.

We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise;
And then, if we are true to plan,
Our statures touch the skies.
-Emily Dickinson
Courage is not the towering oak
that sees storms come and go;
It is the fragile blossom
that opens in the snow....
