A great day...a really great day

As Larry so "delicately" announced...Amanda had a most excellent report from her plastic surgeon visit.

Her wound has healed very well and so, much to the answer of countless prayers, she had both drains and all of her stitches removed today. And yes, that does allow her now to sit without having to lean to the right to keep pressure off the stitches. One of the very first things she did when we got back to our hotel was to say,"Watch me, Mom" and she laid down first on her stomach (no more drains) and then with a smile she rolled over to lie flat on her back. The next words I heard were "Yes!"

As I had posted, there were a few decisions that were all waiting for today's plastic surgeon's decision. After such good news regarding her healing and with the stitches and drains removed, our plastics doctor determined that Amanda was cleared to have more chemo without risk. *Just as a reminder...because of those little spots in Amanda's lungs, we will continue with chemo to help guard against them growing or increasing until summer when we expect to have the lung surgery that will remove them completely.

This evening I sent an email to Amanda's main doctor, Dr. Anderson and shared the news with him. More good news came when he - very happy with the results - agreed to let us return to Columbia for chemo. Yes! (That one was from me. :-) Amanda and I will go over to his office in the morning, get a schedule, etc. and then catch an early afternoon flight out of Houston. We are so happy and excited. This is such an answer to prayer. We had been given so many different scenarios to consider - all of them dependent upon the plastic surgeon's report - but a few of them kept us here in Houston for up to two weeks while we did a slow, gentler chemo and they kept watch on the wound site. That was really discouraging for us to consider as we were so happy to finally be back in Columbia. But, thankfully, tonight we know we are coming home and we sent our praises to Heaven for that.

Gotta pack! Yeah!

Awesome!!!! That news is so wonderful! I had talked to Haley earlier and heard about the stitches being removed, but I didn't hear that you get to come home. Praise God!
