Amanda's Weekend

As Larry happily shared with you, Amanda was cleared and out of the hospital nice and early on Friday. Friday was quite significant to us in that it represented the end of a chemo series and some days off before Amanda has her scans on Tuesday.

So, how did Amanda spend her Friday? After snuggling up with me for a little rest because of the early morning tests and release, Amanda headed down to join her classmates for school. Her soccer team, the Lady Knights, had a home game at 4:30. Dressed in her team numbers (her number "14" was reserved for her by a very thoughtful and special soccer coach, Mr. Richens - to just say "thank you" to him does not seem enough for all that meant to Amanda) she was excited to travel with her team to the field and to support them throughout their game.

It was great for us to see Amanda at the side of the field with her teammates.

Following the game, she and other youth from our church attended a full weekend Youth Rally. Bands and worship, small groups and overnights...it was two days of fun and spiritual renewal.

I share these details with you to let you see an example of what our daughter shows us day after day. Cancer may be the battle that she fights, but she has not let it steal anything else from her. Her joy, her spirit, her desire to attend school and be a part of her soccer team, her heart for her faith...these things continue to grow and thrive in her.

What a great weekend. What a great daughter. I love you, sweetie. You continue to lead me,

Mom

Amanda & family,
I am glad that you had a great weekend filled with lots of fun and excitment with your friends and family. I look up to all of you everyday. It amazes me how you can have such Faith in God, with the circumstances that you are going through on a daily basis. You are a blessing from God and he is going to continue to bless you daily!

Love & prayers,
Chas
