We're Heading Home on Thursday!

After meeting with Dr. Anderson this afternoon, we now have a "coming home date".

Tomorrow - Tuesday - First Amanda will have her daily radiation treatment and then she will receive a new chemo infusion. It will take about 5 hours to administer the two drug combo.

On Wednesday she will have her last radiation treatment. We are so excited for her. She completed a 15 treatment series and has handled them so well. Her Dr. is very pleased with how she has done. Abby and I will be there to cheer as she rings the bell which signifies that she has completed her series. There will be clapping, cheering and pictures, I can tell you that! :-)

Amanda is then scheduled to receive an injection which is to help protect her as her blood counts drop (an effect of the chemo) and then she will have a procedure which removes the PICC line that she had placed to receive her chemo through.

Following all this, we will pack up and once again say goodbye to Houston. We are cleared to come home while Amanda's body recovers from all the chemo and radiation that she has received over the last 3 weeks. We know that we will have to return to Houston in the middle of July when her counts have rebounded, but for now...we are just counting the hours until we land on Missouri soil and see the lights of Columbia once again.

Thursday...we can't wait. :-)

Hey Amanda!
I am so happy for you! I hope we can do something together when you get back, like see a movie or just hang out. Ironically, I am getting my braces off on Thursday after 2 years of being a brace-face.
See you soon,
Stephanie Koske

Praying you are happily home now and enjoying being with family and friends. Here's wishing you many smiles, hugs and lots of laughter, as laughter releases all kinds of good, healthy chemicals into the body! So gather close and hold tight, your family is the kind of family others long for....God's blessings being sent from Iowa....
