Friday's "drip" & the week ahead

Friday found Amanda & I welcomed back. Nurses & Doctors who have come to mean so much to us greeted us and welcomed us back from Denver. Everyone made us feel as though they had truly missed having Amanda there. It was very sweet.

Amanda's drip took all afternoon. Although the actual chemo time was only 2 1/2 hours, the pre-drip meds, exam, and then "observation time" filled out the day. This particular chemo causes an allergic type reaction in a number of people. Amanda was required to stay for one additional hour following the completion of the infusion to make certain that she did not have an allergic reaction. The afternoon passed quickly as we shared a movie (& the best treats!) with Amanda's friend, Ruthie, who came to spend the time with us. I am very thankful to tell you that Amanda experienced no reaction and we were finally able to head home shortly after 5:00.

Next week will be filled with visits back for lab work. This chemo will be extremely hard on Amanda's white blood cell levels and so we will have labs drawn on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so that they can know as soon as her counts drop. As before, when they do, we will begin meds and the daily injection to boost it back up as quickly as possible.

Early next week we are hoping to learn the final results from the biopsy comparisons done in Denver. Please keep those in your prayers, as well as the doctors who must decide what is the next step in Amanda's battle plan after they view them. We pray continually for God to grant them wisdom as they care for our child and the other children in their care.

Amanda is feeling well, she is busy with friends, school and of course, family. We are grateful for each one of these days. The future we continue to leave to our Heavenly father.
