As it turns out, after communicating with our main doctor at M.D. Anderson today, we will not be returning to Houston ... at least not this next week. The CT scans that we just had in Columbia were scheduled to be done as well during our Houston appointments. Dr. Anderson has decided that he will view our Columbia results (our CT scan quality and Houston's quality are very comparable)to make decisions instead of having us come there to do it. After he has seen those and consulted with others of our team, he will call us to discuss -what if any- treatment options remain. We will be in contact with him next week again to hear this thoughts.
With our trip now delayed/canceled, it grants a wish of Amanda's. One of Amanda's greatest desires is to be home and free to do what she wants. And she has a couple more things that she REALLY wants to do. The first one is very simple ... she wants to be with her senior class at the upcoming State tournament, in the middle of February. Done. That one is pretty easy to accommodate. Then there is this second one....
The other one is that Amanda wants to go with her family to Disney. So ... we are going to find a way to do just that. (Amanda is over 18, so Make A Wish can't help.) In fact, we are hoping to go within the next couple of weeks, before the end of January. That would be best for Amanda. Denise and Amanda have been looking at the places to stay on the Disney property, so family members could come and go on the shuttles, etc and save us the cost of a rental car, parking and transportation issues when 9 people are involved. We were thinking of spending four days at the Disney site, and so with flying down on one day and back on another day, that would be a total of six days, and it is Amanda's desire to try and be able to get all the family members to join us ... Haley and Matt from Arkansas, Joshua from his work, and Abby from her college as well. Of course Caleb and Anna are still home ... so that would make a total of 9 of us. We're still working on the logistics of getting people there at the same time from different locations, but are trusting it will come together.
If someone has some kind of a Disney "connection" that would help put this together quicker than we could on our own, let us know ... but in the meantime, Denise is all over it.
Your thoughts and prayers are what gets us through these days ... they are much appreciated.

I have heard from three different people from the church that are looking into the Disney trip. Hope you don't mind me giving them your home phone number. At least we feel like we are helping out someway from Cedar Rapids.
