Rainy Days and Thursdays

As you have probably heard on the news, Texas is getting pounded with heavy rainfall as a result of the hurricane activity. Houston has had 40 inches of precipitation so far this year, which is nearly a foot more than normal. We have flooding in Houston, and the news reports that the fire department has had to make several high water rescues.

Amanda and I have finished our daily business at the hospital, and will probably hang pretty close to home base for the rest of today. We encountered some flooding along the way to the hospital, but we were able to work through it. Others, however, were stranded in high water due to being careless or not understanding how deep it was. Following is a picture of a main street we use to get to and from the hospital. This picture was taken about noon. It is odd to see streets that are normally busy with much traffic, be underwater or have cars stranded along the way.
