Even as I write these words, I know with all certainty, that waiting on the other side of this blogsite are faithful hearts - some known to us and some known only to God - who have kept our family and our daughter in their thoughts and prayers since our brief blog regarding the new activity. Thank you seems so inadequate; and yet, it comes from the most sincere depths of my heart.
Our results came through a short time ago. I will attempt here to make them as clear as possible; however, some of the first words I heard were "well, they are interesting..."
The MRI held last week showed that Amanda had developed a new tumor in her right hip area. This is distressing for a number of reasons, one of which is that Amanda depends on her right side as her source of mobility. The tumor measures to be approximately the size of a peach pit and is located at the top of her femur bone.
Yesterday's PET scan was done of her whole body. "Uptake" is the word they use to measure the increased activity level of cells containing the radioactive ingredient. For example...cancer cells tend to be fast moving/replicating and so there is an "uptake" or increased level of cell activity pictured there.
Amanda's "uptake" yesterday was atypical. From this scan, there does not appear to be other new tumor sites at this time. However, the new tumor did not produce the uptake levels that it should have and so the results at this time, I am sorry to say are inconclusive or 'interesting.' We were told that they would be sent to Dr. Anderson but that we should probably expect that another PET scan will be run in Houston.
And so we now prepare for Houston. We will fly down on Sunday and begin appointments early Monday morning.
There are questions for which we have no answers, I apologize. But there are also some answers I know for sure. Your prayers, the emails, the blog entries...all of the love and support that we have felt and received over the last few days is literally the strength we now depend on.
And I know this for certain, for all the days of my life, I will continue to thank God for each of you and ask that He bless you for all of your support and all that you have come to mean to us as we continue to journey on together with Amanda Joy.

Dear Amanda & Family,
You have been continually in my prayers. Thinking of you as you head to TX.
The following is just one of the many verses I clung to during my daughter's illnesss. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7 It is so difficult to deal with the whole big picture of this so just take one day at a time & cherish it.
Love, Val Stine
Dear Denise,
Please take the prayer shawl we brought to Amanda, wrap it around her and hold her tightly. Please tell her how much we love her and that we continue to pray for her and all the Daniels. Tell us how you want us to pray. Help us circle the wagon or follow the lead of your darling daughter. We love you all!
